Why we choose values over figures
Drumlerhof’s common good balance sheet
Everything we do here at Drumlerhof is focused on the common good of nature, people and animals, not just profit. That is why we draw up our common good balance sheet every year, and have it certified by independent auditors. For us, sustainability is not a buzzword – it’s a genuine commitment: the will and transparent dedication to make a measurable difference.
What exactly is a common good balance sheet?
The common good balance sheet involves a special assessment procedure to measure a company’s actual contribution to the common good – in other words, the extent to which its business has a positive social, ecological and ethical impact. Unlike conventional balance sheets, which only examine financial indicators, it looks beyond mere profit and focuses on values such as human dignity, solidarity, environmental sustainability, transparency and co-determination.
The common good balance sheet is a tool developed by the Economy for the Common Good movement, which measures success not only by profit metrics, but also by how a company contributes to the common good of society and the environment. It is based on a systematic matrix that includes various factors, from working conditions and commercial partnerships to the environmental impact of a business.
Compiling a common good balance sheet is a complex but rewarding multi-step process:
Collecting data.
All aspects of our business activities are meticulously examined and documented.
Drawing up the report.
We analyse, track and record our activities.
External auditing.
Independent auditors perform fair and transparent assessment of our results.
Obtaining certification.
After completing the process, we received certification as proof of our progress and commitment.
By getting our common good balance sheet certified every year, we keep investing in credibility and – more importantly – we keep developing and taking responsibility not just for our business, but for the greater good. We strongly believe that common-good oriented practices create trust, strengthen relationships and keep us authentic and future-proof as hoteliers.
We are delighted to be on this journey together with our guests, staff and partners – united for a sustainable, value-focused way of doing things.
